Q&A: How long for a 10 gauge earring to heal after a 14?

Question by TheRussian: How long for a 10 gauge earring to heal after a 14? Today I decided to stretch my fully healed 14 gauged earring hole to a 12. Then later on I put a 10 in. It hurt and it bled a little but it's in. All there is now is stinging like in a newly pierced ear. Could anyone tell me how long this would take to heal? I would greatly appreciate it. I'll give 5 stars if someone can give me an accurate guess of how long it might take. Thanks. Best answer:

At least a month. I have a 10g and a 5/8" gauge in both ears. Just give it time.

Bout a week, depends on some people. Could take a week or two but that’s all.

That was really silly of you to go from a 14 to a 12 to a 10 in one day. You’re supposed to wait at least 3 months after gauging before you gauge again. You could tear the flesh. Next time you want to gauge, wait at least three months.

For it to fully heal it will take around 2 and half months to 3 months same as a new piercing.
Clean it each day with sea salt solution and look after it to help with healing.

If you don’t downsize, it may take a long time to heal, and will probably form some nice scar tissue that will make future stretching harder and make tears more likely. Plus the pressure from larger jewelry will restrict blood flow and slow healing.

To heal the tear quickly, you want to downsize to a 14g, treat it like a new piercing, and wait several months before stretching to 12g. And then wait at least several more for 10g. Skipping sizes is a good way to ruin your lobes.
