I know Catharina is NOT likable, but I can’t help but feel sorry for her in this scene. How humiliating. Her husband can’t hide how he feels about Griet.

The woman who plays Catharina looks like that chick from Mamma Mia!!!

I know it’s weird but that girl who plays Cornelia looks so much like Vicky’s best friend in the french 80′s movie La Boum.

Griet is just mixing Vermeer’s colors.
I think Cornelia assumes she is, eh-hem, “mixing his colors.”

Such a rigid family. Is it any wonder why the man of the house takes a fancy to their young servant girl.

lolol the look on Griet’s face when he comments and touches her shawl XD

@jacqui9988 You’ve never heard of people refer to characters in a film by their last name? Try reading a few more posts, and learn how people write in a colloquial tone, before you so quickly and sarcastically cut someone down. Clearly, english is not your first language. Might be best for you to practice comprehension before you express your hasty and unkind opinion.

@starzandmoonz14 his name is johannes, not vermeer. vermeer is his last name. Her name is cornelia vermeer. Read the book before you say things. Or is the book too long for you?

something’s wrong with this part for me!! the picture jumps and it’s all pixilated and it just stops at 1:10, and everytime i try to rewind or fastforward, it always just jumps back to when the wife gives griet the letter. anyone know how to help? it’s very annoying because i’m really enjoying it (not in the least for colin firth!)

@darknakato
I always feel sorry for the ppl who have/had to grind the stones cuz when u do grind stones, the dust is white!
Its amazing how different types of white dust can create a beautiful spectrum of colours! :) <3

Hahahah nightly rumours, huh?
Oil painting ack then must have been really expensive, since they used stones and things like this to get the colour. Malachite for green and Lapislazuli for blue…
